ABOUT

After spending 20 years living and working in San Francisco, I returned to New England in 2006, relocating to mid coast Maine. I balance my time between art, design, writing, and teaching and am well versed in a variety of creative disciplines. Most of my career has been focused on designing products and environments while running a sustainable small business. My artwork and design pieces have been exhibited at museums, galleries, stores and other venues in the U.S. and abroad. I continue to consult about issues pertinent to an ecologically sustainable future and retain a coast to coast perspective by returning to California for a month every summer to teach design in San Francisco, and also maintain a part time studio in Mount Shasta.

My company, Used Rubber USA created in 1984, has received many awards and recognitions, along with extensive coverage through print, radio, and television, for innovative and path-breaking work in reclaiming waste inner tube rubber and transforming it into functional and fashionable products, challenging what we view as raw materials.
